Today is the day! New York Times bestselling author Emily Giffin’s FIFTH novel, Heart of the Matter is released! Click here to buy a copy. As you know, we heart Emily and her books. And can’t wait for Something Borrowed to be made into a movie (if you follow Emily on Facebook, she gives regular updates about the filming). But we both agree that Heart of the Matter is Giffin’s best work yet. Lucky enough to each get an advance reader copy, we devoured the it months ago, but are excited to re-read it now that the crisp new hardbacks have arrived.

In a special edition of “5 things Liz & Lisa didn’t know about…” Emily made a video! And in it, she gives us 7 extra fun tidbits about herself. And they are hilarious. Hint: violins, fender benders and the Brady Bunch are all involved. So pull up a chair, watch the video and leave a comment for a chance to win an audio version of Heart of the Matter narrated by the fabulous Cynthia Nixon (thanks to MacMillan Audio which can be found on Twitter or Facebook ) or the shiny new hardback!

So without further adieu, here’s Emily!

PS: This month, She Knows has named Heart of the Matter their official book club pick. Check out their fun contest with Emily and enter for a chance to win some of her favorite things (it’s worth it–she has good taste)!

xoxo

Love that you posted this, because I literally just finished the write-up on her in my Costco Connection. Besides the NY Times bestseller’s list, a table at Costco is where I dream my novels will be someday! :)

Love that you guys highlight all my favorite authors! Keep up the great work!

Wow I thought she is very sophisticated lady and upon hearing those things we didn’t know about her, I must say she is simple, not complicated and no fuss lady who appreciates life and put that appreciation in writing. More power Emily!

Ella- this is what we love about our “5 things you didn’t know about…” series because authors give us “regular every day” tid bits about themselves that are always hilarious. And it makes them even more relatable. Glad you enjoyed!

I adore how relatable all of Emily’s novels are, and I have them all as audiobooks. I loved Cynthia Nixon narrating as Claudia in Baby Proof and can’t wait to hear her take on Heart of the Matter!!

Lisa May 11, 2010 at 12:32 pm

Jennifer- I haven’t heard the audio of Baby Proof. Will have to check that out. Thanks for the comment!

HOTM was GREAT. Something Blue & HOTM are the only two of her books I haven’t listened to on CD while driving to/from the office.

How fun! :) I love Emily Giffin — just finished Something Blue not too long ago! — and can’t wait to get my hands on Heart Of The Matter. Love that purple cover, too. I’m such a girly girl!

Melissa May 12, 2010 at 5:33 pm

i watched again because i was slightly distracted the last time. she and i have one thing in common….never breaking any bones. :)

Jonita May 12, 2010 at 7:01 pm

I’m a huge Enily Giffin fan, so the chance to get to “know” her through the video was awesome! I absolutely can’t wait to read her latest.

I actually just found your site, and it’s wonderful! Chick Lit is one of my favourite genres, although sometimes people look at me funny when I say that. How can you beat pink covers and happy endings? I will definitely be back :)

Liz May 12, 2010 at 7:55 pm

Melissa- I share that with her too…(thank goodness!)

Liz May 12, 2010 at 7:56 pm

Meg, HOTM is so awesome, I think you’ll really like it! xo
